Adult Keeper For a Day

The ultimate experience for all animal lovers!

This unique scheme offers a fantastic insight into the role of today's keepers in our busy wildlife park. The options cover everything from butterflies to birds of prey, rabbits to reptiles ~ we guarantee there will be something to suit everyone.

The full day package includes:

A Unique Experience

We try to make your experience as unique and personal as possible by giving you the chance to let us know your favourite animal. Whenever possible we will do our best to ensure that you spend time with your chosen animal's keeper, including a public Animal Encounter such as Wallaby Feeding Time. Please remember that this cannot be guaranteed owing to the nature of livestock, staff availability and the public programme of events which may not fit in with your day's schedule. The remainder of your day will be filled with animal husbandry around Tropical Wings Zoo and might include all or some of the following: domestic and exotic mammals, birds, reptiles, butterflies and bugs.

Keeper Options

ZOO KEEPER:  Mix up the day with a range of animal experiences, which might include exotic birds, birds of prey, mammals, reptiles and invertebrates.

BIRD KEEPER: Spend the day with the bird team, feeding, cleaning, manning (handling), weighing and even flying some of the birds of prey and parrots.

All keeper experiences: General animal care varies, but may include food preparation, grooming, health checks, animal enrichment and enclosure cleaning.

• In all cases you will get to know the individual animals in our collection, discover how to handle them (if appropriate) and more about the species in general.
• You will also help to feed the animals, and this may even include participating in a public presentation.
• Your package includes a voucher so that you can enjoy a delicious lunch in the Butterfly Cafe.
• Your experience concludes when you receive your certificate, and you are then welcome to join the public and stay for the remainder of the day at Tropical Wings.
• All adult keeper experience sessions start at 10.30am and finish at 3.30pm.

Please remember: When you work with animals, every day is different! Whilst we will try to incorporate your chosen animal into your experience it may be necessary to replace this part of your day. We regret that this will not be deemed reasonable grounds for a refund. However, we are sure that whatever you do, your day will be the most unforgettable and fabulous experience - a real chance of a lifetime!
